Combining
a peculiarly British proclivity for nonsense with the European cabaret
tradition, The Pigeon Quintet present an exhilarating new musical combination
to startle and enchant all tastes.
Guitar, clarinets, trumpet and 'cello combine forces with the haunting
voice of Jo de Waal to form a dazzling mélange. The repertoire
includes new arrangements of Weill's Broadway and Berlin theatre songs
as well as Eisler/Brecht art songs, Piazzolla tangos, Sondheim songs,
and new pieces written for and by the group, including collaborations
with the poet Kate Clanchy. Audiences have loved the group, finding
them constantly entertaining, moving and provocative.
